Property Technology Policy Briefing

Property Technology Policy Briefing

Tuesday, January 20, 2026 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (PST)

Description

As Los Angeles considers a proposed Parking Occupancy Tax, commercial property owners and managers are under growing pressure to operate more efficiently and make smarter, data-driven decisions. This policy briefing will feature Kayla Oliver, Head of Products, Partnerships, and Innovation at ABM, who will share practical insights on how emerging property technologies—such as FM platforms, IoT, AI, automation, and robotics—are being used in real buildings today. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how these tools can help offset rising costs and navigate increasing policy and operational challenges.

“Proptech” is the technology that connects people and information to simplify how commercial real estate is owned, sold, managed, operated, researched, rented or bought and invested in. Proptech provides many opportunities for owners to save costs and managers to operate buildings more effectively.

The Proptech Committee will convene building owners, managers, and issue experts to dive deep into developments in property technology and educate building operators on how to leverage it for greater value.

This group meets every other month to provide ongoing information to BOMA/GLA’s membership on trends in the Proptech space. Expect updates on such areas as energy management, tenant experiences & amenities, Security and cybersecurity.
